Show: Milano Unica

Dates: Feb. 7-9
Venue: Fieramilanocity, Porta Scarampo — Porta Teodorico, Viale Scarampo, Milan
The Story: Milano Unica is a biannual Italian textiles and accessories fair that prides itself on being at the forefront of trends and high-quality materials.

“Our job in such a difficult period is to bring the true values of Made in Italy to the world,” said president Silvio Albini.

In February, the fair will present designs divided among the themes “active,” “languid,” “sharp” and “melded,” forecasted as key concepts for next spring.

On Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m., visitors can stop by happy hour at the restaurant Bolaffio al Timpano in Pavilion 2, while on Feb. 8, those lucky enough to have tickets can attend a sold-out ballet performance at Milan’s beloved Teatro alla Scala, which reserved the evening especially for Milano Unica. A portion of the proceeds from the ballet “Excelsior” will benefit the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees fund for Somali children who are victims of famine.

Show: Mifur
Dates: March 4-8
Venue: Pavilions 1, 2 and 4 — Portello — Fieramilanocity, Milan.
The Story: Mifur tacked an extra day onto its next edition, which kicks off March 4 and wraps up on the 8th. A meeting point for fur and leather connoisseurs, this season the fair will cast a nostalgic glance toward the Fifties and Swinging London, with special emphasis on vibrant colors.

On March 4, Mifur will present Remix, an international competition for young designers in collaboration with the International Fur Trade Federation. Mink, sable, astrakhan, beaver and lambskin will all be on display as well as on the runway during the March 5 fashion show.

Show: Mipel
Dates: March 4-7
Venue: Pavilions 8, 12 and 16 — Galleria — Fieramilano (Rho), Milan.
The Story: The Mipel leather and accessories fair is celebrating its 50th birthday this year. It will offer visitors a wide array of bags, suitcases, trolleys, umbrellas and more from established brands and fledgling designers.

A new trend corner with the best of Mipel will also be on display on Corso Italia for the first time — exact location will be confirmed closer to the date.

Show: MI Milano Prêt-à-Porter (MIPAP)
Dates: Feb. 24-27
Venue: Fieramilanocity, Gate 5, Viale Scarampo, Milan.
The Story: Four key areas will divide the exhibition space at MI Milano Prêt-à-Porter: Iconic, featuring formalwear; Stream, showcasing sportswear; Hothouse, introducing more contemporary, edgy looks, and The Underwear Spot, for beachwear and intimates.

MIPAP has planned a separate area for the My Own Show contest, organized by the Europe Institute of Design. Here, young designers and stylists, selected by a jury including Italian Vogue editor in chief Franca Sozzani, will introduce their collections, created in collaboration with leading fashion companies.

Discussions led by Andrea Batilla, a representative of the Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda — a Milanese association that promotes education in the fashion field — will take place in the Trends Salon.
