RRL HITS MELROSE: After a several-year absence, Los Angeles has welcomed back Ralph Lauren’s RRL label with a new store on Melrose Avenue. The 2,600-square-foot store is at the corner of Kilkea Drive, one block west of Crescent Heights Boulevard and Fred Segal Melrose. The Western Americana-themed label, which shuttered its store on Third Street near Fairfax Avenue in 2004, has a 10-year lease on the space. Another RRL store, which carries men’s and women’s clothing from the line opened in Malibu last year. — Anne Riley-Katz

MORE WEST COAST DEBUTS: Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess Pavlos of Greece and founder of the eight-year-old children’s clothing line Marie-Chantal LLC, opened her first West Coast store, the company’s eighth door, at 338 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills last week. There are three Marie-Chantal stores in London, two in Greece and two in New York City….Space 15 Twenty, a hip retail collection anchored by Urban Outfitters, also opened on Hollywood’s Cahuenga Boulevard. Urban Outfitters signed a long-term lease on the entire space, once a lighting warehouse, last year, then subleased the smaller spaces to other retailers including New York’s What Comes Around Goes Around, which sells vintage clothing and an in-house label, shoe brand Alife and Santa Monica-based art bookstore Hennessey + Ingalls….Design retailer Moss has partnered with SBE Hotel Group to open its second Los Angeles location in the SLS Beverly Hills hotel, designed by Philippe Starck. The store, conceptualized by Moss co-founders Murray Moss and Franklin Getchell as a “shop without walls,” will feature merchandise displayed throughout the hotel’s lobby, lounging and dining spaces in freestanding glass cases….Manufacturing guru Gerard Guez, who has produced lines for Sasson jeans, American Rag Cie and Kitson, is stepping into retail with Live!, a multibrand emporium in a space on Sunset Boulevard that used to house the iconic Tower Records store. What sets the store apart from other retailers is its broadcast studio, where stylists and customers can record live content to be broadcast online, on TV and within the store, linking its brick-and-mortar and e-commerce elements with entertainment. In addition to local brands such as Joie, Dylan George and Crispin & Basilio, Live! houses satellite boutiques for The Way We Wore, Dylan’s Candy Bar, Taschen, Kitson and Sportie LA.— Marcy Medina
