NEW YORK — Executives from major apparel brands and retailers will be searching for ways to reinvent and reenergize their sourcing strategies during the WWD Global Sourcing & Supply Chain Forum on April 15.

The global economic downturn has led to a tidal shift in the sourcing landscape. China’s once-dominant position as the world’s low-cost apparel manufacturer has been weakened by rising costs and plummeting demand. Asian neighbors like Vietnam have been the beneficiaries of China’s losses. As economic conditions have deteriorated, pressure to reduce costs has only grown.
