AUSTRALIA’S TURN: After issues themed around Africa and China, the March edition of L’Uomo Vogue explores Australia, with plans for editor in chief Franca Sozzani to also unveil the magazine in person at a yet-to-be-revealed venue in Sydney in late March, according to well-placed sources associated with the launch.
Although the magazine did not respond to requests for further information, local coverage is said to include a feature on Australian fashion designers that was photographed by Australian photographer Carlotta Moye in Sydney just before Christmas; reportage on superfine merino wool growers in the New England, NSW region, and profiles of a number of Australian celebrities, shot in various parts of the world.
The issue’s cover star is still under wraps, but it’s likely to be a male Australian actor à la Hugh Jackman or Guy Pearce.
Sozzani is expected to spend a week in Sydney, with Vogue Australia also understood to be planning its own soiree to welcome her to town. A special Fashion’s Night Out-style mini “luxury shopping night” is on the planning agenda to coincide with the magazine’s launch.
L’Uomo Vogue’s March issue will be the second Australian project in a month for Sozzani, who is part of the judging panel for the 2014/2015 International Woolmark Prize competition, the winner of which is due to be revealed at Milan’s Museo Della Triennale on Feb. 21.
