BIGGER SATURDAY: RMO, the London-based public relations company whose clients include Erdem, Giles and Harvey Nichols, is merging with the U.S.-based Wetherly Fashion Group, a pr and VIP specialist, in a bid to broaden its global reach.
The new entity will be known as RMO Wetherly and will boast a roster of fashion and luxury clients, as well as Wetherly’s jewelry brands H.Stern and Gilan and the denim label Hudson. An announcement is expected later this week. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, although Jens Grede, chairman of RMO’s parent Saturday Group, said Saturday’s stake in Wetherly is “significant” and will help to consolidate RMO’s business, especially in North America.

“The decision to merge was really driven by our clients, because there is no such thing as regional communications today,” said Grede. “It’s a global market, and they [our clients] need to consolidate their relationships.”
He said the merger would give RMO access to Wetherly’s red-carpet and product-placement expertise as well as its consumer media contacts in the U.S. market. Olivier Bourgis and Mesh Chhibber, the founders of RMO, said: “We have been actively looking for the right U.S. partner for RMO, and Wetherly has impressed us with their level of service, strategic view of communication and expertise in the jewelry and denim sectors.”
