CONVERSATION STARTER: Ian Schrager and Nowness have rounded up a gang of art and fashion figures to mark the opening in the fall of the London Edition, a new hotel and part of a collaboration between Schrager and Marriott.
Tracey Emin, Solange Knowles, Miles Aldridge, Amanda Harlech and J.W. Anderson are among those taking part in five short films, directed by the photographer Johnnie Shand Kydd, and based around the concept of creative collaboration.

The first film, “Vision,” has Franca Sozzani in conversation with Aldridge about image making, and launches today on editionhotels.com. The other films will roll out at the end of this month, and in the fall.
“I filmed all five — and it could have become repetitive — but everybody comes to the table with something different,” Shand Kydd told WWD.
Shand Kydd, who made his name photographing London’s YBAs — Young British Artists — before they became famous, said his favorite film so far is the one featuring the British actor Rory Kinnear and the theater director Rufus Norris, who worked together on the coming-of-age film “Broken” in 2012.
“They morphed in and out of performance and discussion,” he said of the film, where the two discuss film and theater.
He also filmed his old friend Emin talking about her collaboration with the late artist Louise Bourgeois. That film is shot in Emin’s sewing studio and in artist and writer Harland Miller’s studio.
The London Edition hotel will be the second to open after Istanbul. It will be located on the former site of the Berners Hotel, on Berners Street near Oxford Street.
