DOUBLE VISION: After starring together in campaigns for the likes of Balmain and Fendi, sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid appear in Moschino’s spring campaign. Art imitates life in the photos lensed by Steven Meisel as the social media darlings and models of the moment are each caught fending off a swarm of paparazzi. In one ad, Gigi Hadid is seen wearing an azure paper-doll gown — replete with tabs — designed by creative director Jeremy Scott.
“I was inspired by images of paparazzi photos, especially when it’s gangs of them at once,” said Scott. “At the same time, Gigi had her own incident with the paparazzi in Milan, that added a layer of art imitating life to the concept.”
In another image, Bella Hadid also wears an optical illusion look: a cropped black top and skirt embellished with paper-doll Moschino glasses, caps and gloves as she struggles to get away from the paparazzi — even averting one photographer by placing a hand on his face.
The campaign was styled by Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele. Guido Palau was credited for hair and Pat McGrath for makeup.
The ads are to break in January. Since his arrival at Moschino in October 2013, Scott has been working with Meisel on each campaign except for the fall 2015 season.
