The British style title i-D is set to launch an Italian language version of its digital platform, i-d.co, to coincide with Milan Fashion Week later this month.
The site will have the same Web address as the English language site — i-d.co — but will be geo-targeted, so the content is tailored to Italy when visitors access the site from the country. The Italian site’s content will be a mix of Italian editorial produced by the new Milan office, and translated content created by the site’s London team, i-D said. i-D’s new Milan office will be helmed by Gloria Maria Cappelletti, editor of i-D Italia, while Andrea Rasoli, publisher of Vice Italia, will also serve as publisher of i-D Italia. As reported, Vice Media bought i-D in late 2012 and the company is helping to execute i-D’s Italian digital launch.
Cappelletti commented of the launch: “i-D is curating a new chapter in fashion in Italy, while translating its lifestyle spirit into the digital arena.” Rasoli added: “The Italian i-D.co will meld world class editorial, cutting edge talent and innovative brand partnerships — all with the unique Italian eye for style. Fashion lacks a real point of reference in the digital media world; i-D has got the ambition to become the leader in this field, which represents the future.”
