MALE CALL: Dylan Jones, the editor of British GQ, has been appointed chair of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion 2012 men’s wear committee.
Jones is to form a committee of “influential figures in the men’s wear industry,” the BFC stated, to work on a calendar of events for Fashion 2012. Fashion 2012 is the umbrella under which the BFC will showcase British fashion during the year when the London Olympics take place, with a series of cultural and design-driven projects alongside fashion events and activities.
The BFC stated that the men’s wear events would showcase “the breadth of British men’s wear, from traditional heritage brands to avant-garde and emerging talent.” It added that while the BFC will put on some events, it hopes that individual brands and organizations will also develop events to be part of the program in London.
To announce the first men’s wear plans for Fashion 2012, Jones is to co-host an event during men’s fashion week in Paris on Jan. 22, along with Harold Tillman, chairman of the BFC.
