This morning the American Society of Magazine Editors revealed the finalists for Magazine of the Year at the National Magazine Awards on May 9. The Atlantic, National Geographic, Backpacker, Foreign Policy and Wired are all nominated for the top prize, which was created last year to recognize a title for excellence across platforms, including in print, on tablets and mobile devices, and online. Cindi Leive’s Glamour magazine won the inaugural Magazine of the Year award at last year’s ceremony.
This year, ASME president and People managing editor Larry Hackett has asked Katie Couric to host the ceremony at 583 Park Avenue. Finalists in all the other award categories were announced last week along with the recipient of this year’s Creative Excellence Award, Tom Wolfe.
