NATURE FOLLOWERS: Finding a fitting female counterpart for Marc O’Polo’s rugged poster boy of three seasons — Jeff Bridges — hasn’t been so easy. However, the lifestyle brand seems to have now closed the male-female divide in the fall-winter ’14-’15 campaign starring Uma Thurman as Bridges’ female equivalent.


Shot by Mario Sorrenti, the new “Follow Your Nature” campaign finds the two stars looking somehow related and the individual portraits marked by a similar palette, the same setting.


The company noted Thurman was a perfect fit for the brand, given her German-Swedish roots, among other things. Thurman’s mother, Nena von Schlebrügge, was a top model in the Fifties and Sixties, and her Swedish grandmother, the wife of a German baron, was a model as well. The actress’ father, American professor Robert Thurman, was the first American to become a Buddhist monk in Tibet — more than living up Marc O’Polo’s “Follow Your Nature” slogan.


The campaign will be launched on Aug. 4.


Marc O’Polo was founded in Stockholm 47 years ago, but is now headquartered in Germany, delivering to a retail network that includes 107 company-owned stores, 155 franchise stores, 1,170 shop-in-shops and 1,295 multibrand stores in 30 countries.
