NEW YORK — Nelly is on the hunt and VH1 will have it all on tape.

The Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist will kick off the launch of his women’s clothing line, Apple Bottoms, in Manhattan with a six-city tour, searching for the perfect “Apple Bottoms Girl.” VH1 has signed on to make a reality show out of the tour, which will be turned into a series on the network.

The kickoff event will take place Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mony on 125th Street. Nelly and a to-be-announced panel of celebrity judges will pick one finalist from each city on the tour, which will hit Miami, St. Louis, Houston, Los Angeles and end with a bash at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas on Aug. 25.

The winner of the contest will get prizes, jewelry, clothing and a spot on an upcoming Nelly video, and will appear in a print campaign with him.

According to Apple Bottoms president Leslie Ungar, the St. Louis-based company is looking for the perfect spokeswoman for the brand. She said the winner “needs confidence — she needs to have a special look and, of course, a great behind.”
