Public relations executive Robin Cavan, who helped promote some of the industry’s top names, died of cancer Dec. 5 at her home in New York, her family said. She was 48.
Born in Greensboro, N.C., Cavan started her career in public relations at Calvin Klein in 1985. In 1989, she joined Bidermann Industries USA to oversee public relations for the licensed Ralph Lauren Womenswear collection, reporting to Stuart Kreisler. In 1996, she left that post to join the public relations department for bridge sportswear firm Chaiken & Capone. From 2002 until last year, she worked at New York & Co., most recently as public relations manager.

Cavan is survived by her father, Lewis Cavan Jr.; a sister, Heather Mitchell, and a brother, Lewis Cavan 3rd. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 346 West 20th Street, Manhattan.
