Time Inc. has named Meredith Long publisher of Time magazine.
Long, 38, will oversee the integrated sales and marketing operations across all platforms, including print, mobile, online and social. In this role, the publisher will work with Time editor in chief Nancy Gibbs to develop new growth opportunities and streams of revenue for the news magazine.
Long, who will be relocating to New York from Los Angeles, will report to Evelyn Webster, executive vice president of Time Inc. Long fills the gap left by former group publisher Jed Hartman, who departed the company in November for The Washington Post to become its chief revenue officer.
The new publisher is no stranger to the magazine, having served 12 years on the sales side. Time Inc. touted Long’s deep connections to automotive and technology brands, among others. She has also helped grow Time’s ties to Hollywood via a partnership with The Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation’s Health Care Summit. Her most recent title at Time was West Coast executive director.
