CRYSTAL-CLEAR: Vogue Paris and Swarovski teamed with nine labels including Y/Project, Vanessa Seward and Wanda Nylon on a capsule collection to coincide with the inaugural Vogue Fashion Festival in Paris, scheduled for Nov. 4 and 5. Other designer brands that were invited to create one look embellished with Swarovski crystals for the “Vogue x Swarovski crystal collection” are Ronald Van Der Kemp, Nina Ricci, Wales Bonner, Courrèges, Faith Connexion and Facetasm. The collection features over 290,000 Swarovski crystals.
Looks include Y/Project’s oversized bomber jacket and fishnet top and Wanda Nylon’s bodysuit embroidered with Swarovski crystals paired with a long skirt. All pieces will be featured in Vogue Paris’ November issue, slated to hit newsstands on Oct. 27. Meanwhile, the collection will be on display at the Hotel Potocki in Paris, during the festival’s two-day run. Then, the pieces will be donated by Swarovski through the Vogue Paris Foundation to the Palais Galliera, the City of Paris fashion museum.
Vogue Paris editor in chief Emmanuelle Alt; Nadja Swarovski, member of the Swarovski executive board, and Xavier Romatet, president of Condé Nast France, are to cohost a dinner on Nov. 3. The festival is more aimed at the industry than its British counterpart inaugurated in 2012. It will include a session on the Uniqlo model featuring Fast Retailing’s Tadashi Yanai and a talk with Jonathan Anderson on the “ever-changing notion of time” in fashion. Additionally, there will be a panel discussion on new types of e-commerce with Vente-Privée.com founder, president and chief executive officer Jacques-Antoine Granjon; Vestiaire Collective founder and chief executive officer Sébastien Fabre; Farfetch founder and chief executive officer José Neves, and Style.com president Franck Zayan. Olivier Rousteing and Isabel Marant are to participate in a discussion on the second day — more aimed at consumers than the first— on life as a designer today.
