– TRADE MART IN COLOMBIA: The parent company of the Dallas Market Center said Thursday it will develop and manage a new wholesale trade complex in Bogota, Colombia, called the LatinAmerican Trade Mart that will be the largest such operation in South America. The 2.5 million-square-foot project is scheduled to open in 2011, according to Market Center Management Co., which owns or manages wholesale market centers such as the Dallas Market Center and FashionCenterDallas, Shanghai Mart and Brussels International Trade Mart. Market Center Management is owned by Dallas-based Crow Holdings. Pedro Gomez y Cia SA, one of the largest commercial developers in South America, and Organización Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo, a diversified private holding company, will own the trade mart. Market Center Management will collaborate with the owners as a partner supporting the design, construction, leasing and trade event planning and execution.

– NIKE-UMBRO DEAL: Nike Inc. passed a key hurdle in its $565 million purchase of Umbro plc, the U.K.-based soccer brand. Umbro shareholders meeting in London Thursday approved the all-cash acquisition, a process that began Oct. 23 when Nike bid 193.06 pence, or $3.83 a share. Pending court hearings and final regulatory approvals, Nike Vapor Ltd., a wholly owned Nike subsidiary, anticipates completing the deal in March. Nike intends to operate Umbro as a stand-alone brand that will join Nike’s $2 billion portfolio of affiliates.
