On Wednesday, Maison Lesage, controlled by Chanel, said it had acquired 70 percent of Jean-François Lesage SAS, including its Vastrakala embroidery atelier based in Chennai, India.
Founded in 1999, Vastrakala, which today employs 174 embroiderers, has lent its expert craftsmanship to numerous ready-to-wear and accessory lines done by Maison Lesage for many brands, including Chanel, which snapped up the Parisian embroidery house in 2002 in a bid to preserve its savoir-faire.

"It's really hard sometimes. I think I have a reputation for being really tough and aggressive and pushy but I really am a very shy person who wants to be liked, and that's the conflict constantly.
