NEW YORK — Brookfield Place has signed another fashion tenant to its growing roster: Judith & Charles, a luxury label from Canada. The brand will occupy a 1,150-square-foot space at the property, which is undergoing a $250 million renovation. Other previously announced tenants include Hermès, Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, Michael Kors and Calypso St. Barth.
Ed Hogan, Brookfield’s national director of leasing, declined to say how much retail space is still available, but noted, “By the end of the year, it will be fully leased.”
Judith & Charles has nine locations in Canada, two franchise units in China and one in Doha, Qatar. The Brookfield Place unit will be its second in the U.S. The company’s first store opened at 1355 Third Avenue here.
Judith & Charles stores feature a collection designed by husband and wife Charles Le Pierrès and Judith Richardson, along with an assortment of brands that complement the collection. For example, there’s 10 Crosby by Derek Lam, Adriano Goldschmied AG Denim, Graham & Spencer, James Perse, Joie, Splendid and Sachin + Babi.
“They’re a very fashionable brand that appeals to a 24- to 40-year-old woman,” said Hogan. “It’s an exciting brand that’s really going to grow in the U.S. Their sense of fashion is very appealing to the working woman.”
Besides retail leasing, which is “in the home stretch,” Hogan said, food leasing is also wrapping up. Five restaurants, whose names have not been released, have been signed. An operator for the 25,000-square-foot Marketplace has been chosen, Peter Poulakakos. The casual dining places include Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque, Num Pang and Umami Burger.
