NEW YORK -- A. Rapoport Collection has opened at 957 Madison Ave., here.
Owner Angela Rapoport, a 25-year-old who emigrated here from Estonia three years ago, projected first-year sales of about $500,000 at the 600-square-foot shop, between East 75th and East 76th Streets. The shop carries better and bridge-price apparel, mostly suits and dresses from European resources, including Carla Variala and Margon from Milan, and Jean-Marc Sfez and Morris Duquin from Paris. The store also sells some American lines, including Kalinka and ABS dresses, and has a smattering of hand-painted scarves and hand-made jewelry from Rapoport's native Estonia.
For fall, Rapoport said she plans to carry more knits, including the collection of Paris designer Corinne Cobson.
