Two up-and-coming Dallas designers will open a joint showroom at FashionCenterDallas during the market running Jan. 22 to 25.
Abi Ferrin, who won a 2007 Texas design contest and presented a runway show in New York last fall, will exhibit her colorful, draped silk fashions along with the semiprecious jewelry of friend and collaborator Rachelle Dauphinée. Their showroom, Abi Ferrin & Rachelle Dauphinée, is situated in the District One Five contemporary area on the 15th floor of the World Trade Center, across from Karen Noseff at Fortune Denim. Ferrin said the positioning was important, “as we are all local Dallas designers with growing global appeal.”
Dauphinée has created hardware for Ferrin’s fashions for three seasons running.
“We select fabrics and stones that work together, and the essence of both our collections is a modern, bohemian-chic design sensibility,” Ferrin said.
A former accessories buyer for NM Direct and Stanley Korshak, Dauphinée counts By George in Austin and other chic retailers as accounts for her Moroccan- and Greek-inspired gold-filled jewelry. Most pieces are entwined with wire-wrapped gem-quality stones, such as pink and orange jade and faceted green onyx.
“We have the same demographic and love for the business,” said Dauphinée, who has been creating jewelry for two years in Highland Village, a Dallas suburb. “By cobranding, we are bringing more people in.”
The designers’ wholesale price points are similar — Ferrin’s dresses and sportswear ranges from $65 to $485, and Dauphinée’s jewelry is $64 to $620, with most pieces at $130 to $300.
Other new lines at FCD include Jet Lag contemporary women’s and men’s sportswear at StyleLounge; Carlos Miele structured, colorful Brazilian fashion; Tsarina crystal jewelry from Israel, and Viktoria Hayman horn and wood jewelry at Margo’s Collectibles.
“What he has done at Vuitton is really exceptional,” said @gameofthrones’ actress Gwendoline Christie on @mrkimjones’ final show for @louisvuitton. “He has rebooted luxury in terms of making it commercial, viable and contemporary. And most importantly artistic. He has never compromised his artistic vision for the sake of commodity.” (📷: @zefashioninsider)

According to @laurentsai, former “Terrace House: Aloha State” cast member, she didn’t know she was auditioning for the Japanese version of “Real World.” “I was telling a couple of my friends and someone’s like, ‘That sounds a lot like Terrace House.’ I was like, ’No it can’t be.’” Turns out, it was.
