EBay’s top fashion executive, Miriam Lahage, has been named European general manager of fashion, a new position based in London geared to help the company accelerate growth in the European Union.
EBay Inc. has begun to search for a senior executive to succeed Lahage as general manager of fashion at eBay North America.
The company said Lahage will maintain a high profile in the U.S. by serving as a lead spokesperson for eBay fashion and continuing to work with global fashion brands to develop partnerships and exclusives. In addition, she will still serve on the Council of Fashion Designers of America business advisory committee, and, for the next few weeks, she’ll help find her replacement and assist in the transition. She’s been based at eBay’s San Jose, Calif., headquarters, but now will be able to spend more time with her husband at their London home. Lahage cited a “strong performance” by fashion on eBay last year, and added: “I’m excited to turn my focus to the EU, in particular, to the big four — the U.K., Germany, Italy and France — to continue leveraging our technology in helping consumers find new ways to shop fashion online.”
Her move follows eBay’s acquisition of German online fashion club Brands4friends last week. Last year, the $9.2 billion eBay launched its Fashion Outlet in the U.K. and Germany, attracting high street brands such as Superdry, L.K. Bennett, Jigsaw and Ted Baker. Lehage joined eBay six months ago and helped pilot the eBay Fashion Lookbook and form a partnership with designer Derek Lam for eBay’s first crowdsourced collection for eBay, to be shown Feb. 16 during New York Fashion Week. Consumers will be able to vote on the 16 spring and summer dresses to be shown, and from that, a capsule collection will be available on eBay. Lahage, a 20-year veteran of The TJX Cos. Inc., also founded Koodos.com in the U.K. and consulted on Net-a-porter’s off-price site, The Outnet.
“These collections continue to build on that vision, empowering differently abled adults to express themselves through fashion,” said @tommyhilfiger of his line of adaptive apparel, which launches today. The line consists of 37 men’s and 34 women’s styles based upon the pieces from the spring Tommy Hilfiger sportswear collection. #wwdnews
