NEW YORK — Longtime Gap executive Zeena Freeman has joined Jimmy'Z as senior vice president, responsible for the development and growth of the brand and design, merchandising and production. She will report to Chris Finazzo, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

Jimmy'Z is an emerging division of Aeropostale, which has 14 stores in 11 states. The company considers it a California lifestyle-oriented brand, targeting women and men ages 18 to 25 who are interested in more forward fashion.

Freeman was vice president and general merchandise manager for the Banana Republic outlets. From 1997 to 2004, she held various senior executive positions with Gap Inc., including divisional merchandise manager of babyGap, divisional merchandise manager and business launch leader for Old Navy in Canada and director of business development for the office of the chief executive officer.

The 673-unit Aeropostale chain sells casual apparel and accessories targeting 11- to 18-year-old young women and men.

Gap has been struggling with its businesses and recently has had several executive departures.
