Jenna Lyons, creative director of J. Crew Group Inc., has been awarded a one-time cash bonus of $1 million in recognition of her service to the company. She would be required to return the full bonus if her employment with the firm ends before Oct. 27, 2011, and half of it if she were to leave between that date and Oct. 27, 2013, unless the separation were a result of termination without cause or departure for good reason, as defined by her employment contract. J. Crew has weathered the recession better than many of its specialty store competitors and this month raised its third-quarter guidance by about 50 percent, to a range of between 54 cents and 59 cents a diluted share. The bonus was disclosed in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

"It's really hard sometimes. I think I have a reputation for being really tough and aggressive and pushy but I really am a very shy person who wants to be liked, and that's the conflict constantly. There's something that takes hold - I want people to like me, I don't want to be mean - but if I see something that just cries out to be answered, I go for it," says renowned NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
