WATCH OUT: Swatch Group said Monday that Anton Bally, 58, resigned as president of its watch and movement maker, ETA SA, because of health problems. His successor is Thomas Meier, a 10-year veteran of the group. In a release, Swatch noted that Bally will continue to contribute technical and economic advice, although he also resigned from his duties as a member of its executive group management board.

DOUBLE CHECKING: ClearCommerce Corp. said Monday that Fingerhut Direct Marketing Inc. uses its Premium Risk Management Solution for preventing fraudulent credit-card transactions on Fingerhut’s Web sites. The service combines ClearCommerce’s fraud-prevention software with daily reviews of individual orders by Fingerhut’s in-house security experts, according to ClearCommerce. “While Fingerhut continues to enhance its rapidly growing online sales channel, we also recognize that the Internet’s complex environment provides ample opportunities for fraud,” said Don Lynch, executive vice president for credit marketing at Fingerhut, in a prepared statement. “With ClearCommerce’s industry-leading detection service, we have dropped to an acceptable chargeback rate.” Fingerhut operates a general-merchandise Web site and catalogues. ClearCommerce is a provider of online payment processing software.
