Jewelers on Fifth will open a 3,817-square-foot store at Empire Outlets, Staten Island’s first outlet center opening in 2017. The 340,000-square-foot mall in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island will have 100 stores, including Nordstrom Rack, H&M, Guess Factory Store and Gap Outlet. Empire Outlets is located next to the St. George Ferry Terminal and will be adjacent to one of the tallest observation wheels in the Western Hemisphere.
Jewelers on Fifth will become Staten Island’s largest jewelry exchange. “Staten Island has the highest median family income in New York City and generates $1.2 billion annually in unmet retail demand,” said James Prendamano, managing partner of Casandra Properties, which is the leasing agent for Empire Outlets. “As a borough we spend $61 million annually on jewelry and watch purchases. International visitor spending on jewelry increased by 8 percent in 2014 over the previous year.”
Empire Outlets is 50 percent leased, according to Joseph Ferrara, a principal of BFC Partners, the center’s developer.
