TOKYO — Le Tigre will make a full entry in the Japanese market in spring/summer of 2008 through Itochu Corp., Japanese licensee, following the pre-launch of a limited edition of Le Tigre polo shirts here for spring/summer of this year.

Itochu, a leading Japanese trading firm, said it has concluded a licensing agreement with Le Tigre LLC of New York, for the exclusive manufacture and sale in Japan of full line of the company’s including men's and women's casualwear, hats, socks, bags and children's items.

The company said it is working with four sublicensees which will handle actual production and marketing in each of the specialized product areas.

The four sublicensees are Jichodo Co., based in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, for men's casualwear; Outburn Co.,Tokyo, for women's casualwear; Osaka-based Kurihara Corp., for hats, and Unitika Berkshire Co., Osaka, for socks. Bags and kids' items will be added later.

The products will be sold through casualwear chains, specialty stores, and general merchandise stores, Itochu said, noting that sales projections are 500 million yen or $4.2 million at current exchange for the first year of operation or 1.5 billion yen or $12.7 million for the third year.

Prices will range from 4,900 yen, or about $42, for polo shirts to 5,900 yen, or $50, for knitwear and pants. Outerwear will be in the range of 9,800 yen, or $83.
