Status was a key idea behind the Limited Stores’ August-September deliveries shown last week at Industria in Manhattan, including chain prints, scarves and equestrian touches; classic shapes; camel-colored coats, some Hermès influences, and full skirts. “The colorblocking is strong, almost activewear-inspired. We’re bringing it into sportswear,” Elliot Staples, the senior vice president of design, told WWD.

Limited offers “a balance ofstronger points of view with softer, more feminine points of view, Staples observed, citing an undertone of very feminine Seventies influences as seen in the metallic party dresses and full flirty skirts. The Limited is also putting more focus on accessories, which have been brought in-house and under the direction of Staples, and displaying stripes, which the store has been known for, in new and unusual ways, like dipped-dyed over for a shipwrecked look, or just on one arm of a blouse or sweater.
