ATLANTA — Wayne Marino has been named COO of Under Armour, Inc.
Marino joined Under Armour in January 2004 as vice-president and CFO, and was promoted to executive vice-president and CFO in March 2006. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading Under Armour’s operational, financial, administrative and strategic planning functions. Under Armour said he would focus on driving integration between these functions and the company’s product, sales and marketing teams to deliver long-term growth and profitable growth.
Brad Dickerson, who has been vice-president of accounting and finance at Under Armour since February 2006, was named to succeed Marino as executive vice-president and CFO. Dickerson will oversee the company’s financial organization and will also work closely with Marino on strategic investments in infrastructure designed to build the platform for long-term growth.
Kevin Plank, chairman and CEO, said, “As we expand into new product categories and international markets, Wayne’s new responsibilities will ensure that our operational excellence continues to develop as we continue to grow.”
Plank also said that expanding responsibilities for both men “is a great illustration of the depth we are building within our senior management team.” He noted that Under Armour had hired Peter Mahrer to head its European business and Suzanne Karkus to oversee its apparel business last year. “I am confident we are developing the organizational framework that will deliver against our abundant growth opportunities.”
