The shake-up at the Neiman Marcus Group continues.
Following this week’s shuffling of responsibilities across the senior merchant team, Neiman’s has moved on to its store organization, naming Ann Paolini senior vice president and managing director of Last Call. She was NMG’s senior vice president and director of stores. No successor was named. At Last Call, Paolini succeeds Tom Lind, who has just become senior vice president, project management. NMG said Lind will lead the newly established project management office which will “analyze and define the standards of process within the organization.”
The changes show that Neiman’s new management team, led by NMG chief executive officer and president Karen Katz and Jim Gold, president of the specialty retail group, is determined to accelerate the luxury chain’s recovery and take it in new directions. In October, Katz succeeded Burt Tansky and Gold stepped into his new slot after serving as ceo of the Bergdorf Goodman division.
The new top management team’s priority is developing new channels of distribution, including the recently launched Last Call Studio stores and lastcall.com. Another key area is technology, particularly new apps, mobile devices, and inventory and point-of-sale systems. Paolini will report to Katz, and lead the expansion of Last Call. Lind will also report to Katz.
Also on the agenda: broadening the offerings for greater value and options to affluent consumers. In the shake-up of general merchandise managers this week, Jonathan Joselove was put in charge of designer sportswear, couture, handbags, women’s shoes and accessories, and Ann Stordahl switched to precious jewelry, designer jewelry and beauty. Lisa Kazor was reassigned to designer II [bridge sportswear]; St. John; contemporary sportswear; dress collections; furs; coats; intimate apparel, and children’s, and Russ Patrick was assigned to men’s, gift galleries and Cusp. Bergdorf’s is seeking a successor for Margaret Spaniolo, former gmm of men’s, home, jewelry and beauty, who became president of Thom Browne Inc.
In his new book “Hollywood Royale,” Andy Warhol’s Protégé Matthew Rolston celebrates the Eighties revival of Hollywood glamour. Featuring more than 100 portraits taken by Rolston from 1977 to 1993, the book contains photos of icons like Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, and @drewbarrymore, pictured here in 1991. “Hollywood Royale,” out today, will be accompanied by an exhibition opening at Los Angeles’ Fahey/Klein Gallery on March 1. #wwdeye

25-year-old @samweaving is about to break out this fall, starring in Netflix’s horror film “The Babysitter,” fittingly out today on Friday the 13th.
