LONDON — Opening Ceremony will plant its first flag in Europe, with a pop-up shop set to open just before the 2012 Olympics in Covent Garden here and a permanent unit set for the fall.

An announcement is expected later this week.

The 3,000-square-foot temporary store at 31-32 King Street will open shortly before the Games begin in late July. The pop-up will close in the fall and be replaced by a larger store at 35 King Street.

“Bringing Opening Ceremony to Covent Garden is an important next step in the growth of our company,” Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, co-founders of the retailer, told WWD.
