NEW YORK — Four-year-old Operations, the workwear-inspired premium brand, will open its second store here in the Meatpacking District this week. The company has also partnered with Levi Strauss to sell a capsule collection of upscale sportswear in Levi’s retail stores this fall.
The new store is located at 50 Ninth Avenue, a 1,000-square-foot space that was previously the Pizza Bar restaurant. Slated to open this Saturday, Sept. 27, the store will sell the full range of Operations men’s and women’s wear, as well as complementary brands like Superga sneakers, Nooka watches and New York Hat Co. headwear, as well as vintage watches, belts and money clips.
“We loved this historic building and we’ve created a sort of old general store look for the facade,” said Matteo Gottardi, who founded Operations with partners Michael Leen and Johannes Mahmood in 2004. “We researched from old photos how this store looked in the 1930s and have replicated it.”
Peter Kim's Los Angeles-based premium denim line has always had its finger on the pulse of youth. This season, novelty is back in a way reminiscent of early Aughts, with studs, lace-ups, racing waxed denim and more. "I was driving back on Saturday afternoon from the beach, and I just saw this sign saying 'Skydiving for $95.' And I was like, I can't not sky dive for $95," says Tom Bateman about a moment in Hawaii while shooting "Snatched." #wwdeye (📷: @vsteves; Interview by @ktauer; Styled by @thealexbadia)
