NEW YORK -- Speedo's expansion isn't the only news at Authentic Fitness Corp.: The company recently added "swim bra" suits to its Oscar de la Renta swimwear collection.
The new suits will hit stores such as Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor in time for Christmas.
The two push-up bodies, a maillot and a bikini, are constructed with underwire support and adjustable straps and have removable pads. They come in a variety of fabrics including puckered nylon chenille, polkadots, leopard and scroll prints. The average retail price is $60.
"Everyone trusts us on fit. Nobody understands how to make bras the way we do," said Linda J. Wachner, chairman and chief executive officer of Authentic Fitness and head of Warnaco, which already manufactures swimwear with the Miracle Bra for Victoria's Secret. Wachner said the decision to add the push-up styles was based on the strong initial response at retail to the rest of the line that started shipping last month. "For an early ship, the swimsuits [without the new bra] moved out 20 percent," she noted. "Stores are already reordering."
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
