Peter Sachse, chief stores officer of Macy’s, has joined the board of Charitybuzz. Sachse also serves as a member of the board of governors of the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund and as a director of XO Group Inc. Charitybuzz has raised more than $60 million for nonprofits through online charity auctions with celebrities and brands. Over the past year, Charitybuzz.com worked with Tory Burch, John Varvatos, Donna Karan, Feed, CFDA, Ralph Lauren, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s among other companies. Sachse will advise the company as it pursues larger-scale corporate philanthropy partnerships.
“By aligning pop culture, technology and philanthropy, Charitybuzz has transformed giving into a fun, easy and socially relevant activity,” said Sachse, who became Macy’s chief stores officer last February after serving as chief marketing officer since May 2007 and chairman of macys.com since April 2006. Sachse is responsible for stores, the regional and district stores organization and visual merchandising, and the omni-channel strategy.
