PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia University won the inaugural Student Design Award presented by Macy's during Philadelphia Fashion Week last week.

In all, 17 fashion design students and recent graduates vied for the award, which was held last week at the 23rd Street Armory in Philadelphia.

“This is an extraordinary win and we are thrilled to be part of this wonderful new event,” said Clara Henry, director of Philadelphia University’s Fashion Design Program. “It is an honor to be recognized by a panel of industry judges for the superior work, creativity and talent of our students, and we’re over the moon about it.”

Eight of the winning student designs will be featured in a fashion show at Macy's in Center City, Philadelphia today at 5:30 p.m.

“These students represent future generations of fashion industry professionals and I’m very excited to see what they've created for this special event,” Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter said about the event.
