As if retailing on both sides of the Atlantic was not enough to keep Philip Green up all hours, the Topshop boss is breaking into the entertainment business. He’s created a new, as-yet-unnamed firm with his friend Simon Cowell, the TV producer and personality, and that company recently formed a joint venture with Sony. The venture, called Syco, will focus on the production of music, television, film and digital content. On a retail note, Green, whose privately held Arcadia Group owns brands including Topshop, its brother, Topman, Miss Selfridge, Burton and Wallis, is also preparing for the opening of an 18,000-square-foot Topshop and Topman opposite Harrods in Knightsbridge in late April.
