ATLANTA — Services were held Monday, March 31, at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, S.C., for former textile executive Robert (Bob) E. Coleman, who died at his home on March 28.
Coleman, 83, was chairman and CEO of Riegel Textile Corporation in Trion, Ga., from 1975 to 1985. On his retirement, he became chairman of Textile Hall Corp. in Greenville, S.C., retiring from that position in 1998.
After graduating from North Carolina State University in 1950, Coleman started his textile career with Graniteville Company in Graniteville, Ga. He joined Riegel in 1955. He also served as chairman of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Williams Coleman; two daughters, Deborah Aughtry of Greenville and Elizabeth Aughtry of Atlanta, Ga.; one son, Robert E. Coleman Jr., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greenville YMCA or to other charities.
