Scotch & Soda has opened its largest North American store to date, a 2,500-square-foot unit in the bustling Dumbo section of Brooklyn. This is the brand's seventh store in New York and its second in Brooklyn.Located on the corner of Front and Washington Streets, the store is part of a new commercial and residential hub in the waterfront location that includes retail locations from Shinola, Rodd & Gunn and Modern Anthology. It is adjacent to the Dumbo Market on the ground floor of an industrial condominium building. The store will include an installation called the Cabinet of Wonders, a modern take on the 17th-century Dutch tradition of having a cabinet of curiosities that will feature pieces accumulated by the brand's designers. The first iteration will be pieces found in Morocco including art, blankets, vintage necklaces and other pieces. The offering will change as the design team travels."Scotch & Soda's history is rooted in rich Dutch culture, so creating our own Cabinet of Wonders comes naturally to us," said creative director Marlou van Engelen. "We're at our happiest when searching for curiosities, when finding them and arranging them. In this way, our muse comes to life.""Dumbo is so special for many reasons, including the iconic views of New York City and the Manhattan bridge," said Ari Hoffman, chief executive officer of North American for Scotch & Soda. "It offers an unparalleled view of New York and must-take Instagram shots for visitors and locals alike, which is why we have chosen this location for our second store in Brooklyn."The store is Scotch & Soda's 32nd location in the U.S. It operates more than 190 stores worldwide.
