ATLANTA — The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) is taking over the day-to-day responsibilities of its SGMA Spring Market by bringing management of the trade show in house, starting immediately.

Universal Event Management, based in Braintree, Mass., was the management company for the inaugural SGMA Spring Market this summer, held June 11-13 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Les Vegas. The next SGMA Spring Market will be held in Las Vegas again from June 9-11, 2008.

The day-to-day operations of the show will be coordinated by Gregg Hartley, vice-president of SGMA, and exhibitor information and show sales will be directed by Chris Strong, director of business development.

Tom Cove, president and CEO of SGMA, said it was important for SGMA to assume daily control of the event. “It will enable us to foster the all-important relationships between our staff and our exhibitors – all of whom are members of SGMA.”

SGMA said it will continue its successful partnership with TAG (Team Athletic Goods), which held one of its annual buying events in conjunction with the SGMA Spring Market.
