ShopWith. It is a new app for social shoppers to make it easy to shop with one’s Facebook friends.

The app was launched by Marxent Labs, a Detroit-based tech start-up that has received funding by Detroit Ventures Partners.

Essentially the app allows consumers to share products and ask for shopping advice from their friends.

Created by Beck and Barry Besecker, the app allows consumers to scan product barcodes or take photos and then share them with friends. The launch was possible due to the investment by Detroit Ventures Partners, according to the Besecker brothers.

Barry, who is also chief technology officer of Marxent, said, “Spending hours reading online reviews from random people you’ve never met is old school — who has the time? ShopWith. It’s social research platform can help quickly narrow down options and simplify shopping.”

The VC firm provides seed money to early-stage tech companies located in the Detroit area.

Founded in 2010, the VC firm is led by four partners, one of whom is Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
