NEW YORK — Industry veteran Susan Falk has been named group president of women’s wear at Hartmarx Corp., a new position.

Falk will oversee sales, marketing and operations of all of the firm’s women’s businesses, including Austin Reed and Exclusively Misook. She reports to chairman and chief executive officer Homi Patel.

“Over the last few years, through acquisitions and organic growth, our women’s business has become an increasingly important part of our company,” Patel said in a statement. “More importantly, we see substantial growth in the future.”

In June, Hartmarx acquired Exclusively Misook for $30 million, a move that was expected to boost annual women’s sales to about $100 million.

Falk brings to Chicago-based Hartmarx a résumé that includes stints as president and ceo of Henri Bendel, president and ceo of Express and president of Diane von Furstenberg. More recently, she worked as president of The Body Shop International and as president of the Avenue division of United Retail Group.

Falk said in a statement that the move was an “opportunity for me to work on powerful designer businesses such as Exclusively Misook and Andrea Jovine, which have huge growth potential, alongside well-established, profitable brands like Austin Reed and Barrie Pace.”
