Supercharged holiday events, black-tie galas, megamergers, product innovation, blockbuster sales—myriad merchandising andmarketing exploits—all date back to the store’s adventurous founder, Rowland Hussey Macy, and the merchant kings who subsequentlytook the store’s reins, such as Isidor Straus, Jack Straus and Edward Finkelstein.
