ATLANTA — George R. Perkins Jr. and G. Alfred Webster have joined the Unifi, Inc. board of directors.
Perkins is chairman and CEO of Frontier Spinning Mills, Inc. Webster was an executive officer of Unifi from 1979 until his retirement in April 2003, and a director of the company from 1986 until 2004. They succeed two positions open on the board after chairman, president and CEO Brian R. Parke was fired at a board of directors meeting on Aug. 1. Five other board members resigned at the time. Parke will serve as vice-chairman of Unifi’s Chinese joint venture, Yihua Unifi Fibre Industry Co. Ltd. The company is searching for a permanent CEO.
