TOKYO — Uniqlo is mulling an expansion of its e-commerce business to both the United States and France.

A spokesman for Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., Uniqlo’s parent company, said Thursday that the fast-fashion chain is looking at the possibility of selling its apparel online in both the United States and France. He stressed that a final decision has not been made.

Currently Uniqlo has online stores in Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom and Mainland China.

The company tested the online waters in the U.S. last year with a temporary online shop for its Heattech range of insulating innerwear. 

Fast Retailing’s internet sales in Japan totaled 23 billion yen, or $274 million, for the year ended Aug. 31. That is a small sliver of the company’s total annual turnover of 814.8 billion yen, or $8.71 billion, but online sales have nearly doubled over the last three years.
