NEW YORK — Uniqlo’s second SPRZ NY collection introduces collaborations with artists such as Julian Opie, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sam Francis, David Shrigley and El Lissitzky. The collection is part of the continuing partnership with the Museum of Modern Art here and consists of 200 items, including Uniqlo’s signature Ultra Light Down as well as long-sleeve T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, blankets and other seasonal products.

Uniqlo’s SPRZ NY, or Surprise New York, features the work of well-known artists on T-shirts and other products through a collaboration with MoMA. SPRZ NY, which launched in March, features three mainstay artists, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat, who will always be represented in the collection. Other artists rotate in and out every three months. Items designated MoMA Special Edition are based on works by artists from the museum’s collection and new designs made in collaboration with living artists. Each item features a hangtag inspired by or created by the artist.

The SPRZ NY line will introduce a new kids line intended to provide children access to these artists through clothing. A total of 44 items, including sweatshirts, sweatpants and T-shirts, will be offered in colors and designs that appeal to kids. Products will be available at Uniqlo stores worldwide, although not every store will carry the full collection. The complete assortment can be purchased via the Web site sprzny.uniqlo.com and at Uniqlo’s Fifth Avenue flagship.
