TOKYO — Fast Retailing Co. Ltd. said Thursday it plans to open its first Uniqlo store in Taipei this fall and will establish its own Taiwanese subsidiary next month.

Taiwan will join a growing list of international markets for Uniqlo. Over the past few years, Fast Retailing chairman and chief executive officer Tadashi Yanai has spearheaded a global push into markets such as the U.K., Mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, the U.S., France and Singapore.

Separately, Fast Retailing said it is streamlining its U.S. operations. Next month, Uniqlo USA will change its name to Fast Retailing USA and become the umbrella company for all Uniqlo’s activities, including its New York design studio, as well as the U.S. operations of Theory LLC and Helmut Lang. Andrew Rosen, who is a group officer of Fast Retailing, oversees the U.S. operations of Theory and Lang.

Last year, Fast Retailing launched a tender offer for Link Theory Holdings Co. Ltd. and the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Fast Retailing.
