TOKYO Fast Retailing Co. Ltd.'s Uniqlo said Monday it will open its first store in Australia in the spring of 2014.

The Japanese fast-fashion chain will open a nearly 23,465-square-foot store in the new Emporium Melbourne shopping center. The four-story flagship will carry the brand's women's, men's and children's clothing.

Uniqlo, which has been expanding its international network of stores, currently operates in 14 markets. Over the past couple years, it has opened its first stores in Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand.

Next spring will also march the brand's debut in the German market. Last month, Uniqlo said it will open its first store in Berlin in the Tauentzienstrasse shopping district.
