NEW YORK -- The fourth Versace Jeans Couture, a 10,000-square-foot unit in Beverly Hills, is scheduled to open Jan. 15 and will be followed by two more openings, in White Plains, N.Y., and Costa Mesa, Calif.

Versace is seeking a site for a seventh unit in the Washington, D.C., area, according to a spokeswoman. In White Plains, Versace Jeans will be housed in the Fashion Mall, a retail complex opening March 17. In Costa Mesa, Versace Jeans will be in the South Coast Plaza mall. The first Versace Jeans Couture boutique opened last year in South Beach, Miami. It was followed by shops in Denver and Hackensack, N.J.

The stores carry the Jeans Couture Collection, including women's and men's jeans, jackets, T-shirts, dresses, bathing suits and accessories. The store devotes space to the designer's home and secondary Istante collections. The Beverly Hills store will be at 248 North Rodeo Drive in the Two Rodeo Drive center, a highly visible location. The space has been vacant since the center opened in 1991.

The shop will occupy two levels connected by a spiral staircase and have a total of about 8,000 square feet for selling. The store was scheduled to open this fall, but was delayed by construction and technical problems following last January's Los Angeles earthquake, according to the spokeswoman.
