Last month, the Uniqlo store in Soho got an unusual addition to its staff: A robot to greet customers, talk about promotions and lead employees in motivational exercises. Named for a 12th century warrior, Wakamaru is learning English and can answer questions such as “What time is it?” and “Do you like New York?”

Group Think

Threadless has competition from San Diego’s Collar Free, which is expanding the crowdsourcing concept by selling in local boutiques as well as online. At both sites, anyone can submit a graphic design or vote on favorites. The winning designs are printed up on T-shirts and sold.

Sweet Shopping

Sugar Inc.’s corporate mashup CelebStyle launched Tuesday, mixing PopSugar’s editorial with shopping and search from ShopStyle and StarBrand. The site gives exact breakdowns of celeb style (Rachel Bilson: DKNY blazer and studded Louboutin boots) and where to get the look for less.
