E-commerce can benefit from omnichannel solutions.


Lightspeed, a point-of-sale solutions provider based in Montreal, celebrates its 12th anniversary this month, and the company marked the milestone by noting that it has grown from a start-up with four employees to 600 today.

Lightspeed also said it has grown to seven offices worldwide, managing more than $15 billion in global transactions for 40,000-plus customers, in more than 100 countries. The firm provides cloud-based solutions for independent retailers and restaurants that simplify business operations, financial analysis and improve inventory management. Dax Dasilva, the founder and chief executive officer, established Lightspeed in 2005.

In the first year of implementing Lightspeed solutions, customers typically see a 20 percent increase in revenue.

The company launched its omnichannel product in 2016, which allows customers to merge point-of-sale in-store, e-commerce and mobile operations, empowering streamlined sales processes.

Dasilva said, “Our growth over the past 12 years is directly related to the success that our customers see when using Lightspeed’s cloud-based POS system to manage and build their businesses.” Dasilva explained, “Lightspeed remains rooted in its customer-centric approach, as we continue to innovate with technology and resources that will empower independent businesses.”

The firm also recently announced the signing of its 10,000th e-commerce customer, Picoum, a women’s fashion brand.
