Alasdhair Willis and Stella McCartney.

Stella McCartney filled Harvey Nichols’ Fifth Floor Restaurant with scores of pink peonies Thursday night, when the designer hosted a dinner at the Knightsbridge store to launch her organic clothing collection there. “It’s in now - I came in with my boxes,” said McCartney who personally delivered the collection to the store.

Guests, including McCartney’s husband Alasdhair Willis, her sister Mary, Maria Sharapova, Camilla Belle, Corrine Day, Bella Freud, Dasha Zhukova, Mike Figgis, Laura Bailey and Sophie Ellis Bextor, sipped rose Champagne and Pimm’s in the candlelit space. “Stella’s pieces are so feminine and she’s always doing something new,” said Sharapova, who along with Belle was just back from attending the Valentino Couture show in Paris, before heading back to the U.S.

“We’re seeing friends and then it’s shopping, lunches...you know, girl stuff,” said Belle of their plans for the rest of their London stay.

As guests dined on a vegetarian menu of pea and mint soup and mozzarella and tomato risetti, McCartney shook up the proceedings by inviting her guests to play a few party games, as waiters passed around knickerbocker glories for dessert, complete with mini marshmallows and multicolored M&Ms.

Earlier that evening, Stefano Pilati, the creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, launched the label’s Edition 24 collection at Dover Street Market. Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Daphne Guinness, Stephen Jones and Sally Albemarle gathered to congratulate the designer.

“Look at the cuts, they’re amazing,” said Campbell, who as the label’s fall poster girl was showing off her tulip dress from the collection. Later, the supermodel posed for a few photographs with her Schiffer.

“Claudia’s always been taller than me,” Campbell told photographers, her own statuesque frame given a boost by five-inch Yves Saint Laurent black patent platforms.
